Cannot change defaults

I suddenly lost all my default settings in X2 a couple weeks ago and just got around to trying to reset them. It will not let me save as Router_inch.defaults. I have not loaded MR1 yet due to others problems. When I make my edits and try to save it, it tells me failed to export????

Tommy, are you sure your defaults are in the correct folder and the the config is pointing to all of the correct folders?

It is. I need to edit the defaults and it won't let me save the defaults file. I moved it to a bogus directory and saved the open one back to the ops folder but then all the ops are missing!!!

I have not run into this before.

Edit defaults by selecting Settings/Control Def Mgr.

 

Check Read/Write settings for file, and maybe make a copy and rename it.

Tommy did you patch X2 yet? important. And you shouldn't download MR1 without X2 being patch.

I mean the defaults like ramp angle, absolute instead of incremental etc. I have always just opened up the router_inch.defaults file and made the changes to the tool paths I use and did a save as and manually named it back to router_inch.defaults. When I try to do this in X2 it tells me export failed. I am getting tired of having to reset my toolpath settings every job.

My co- worker told today he has the same kind of problem about defaults not changing. Didn´t have time to check it. I see if I can do something about it tomorrow, if not, then we are at the same boat.

Are you saving the defaults using the "save button" before exiting the toolpath-default-parameters page?

If you access the defaults file through the machine group properties (click the "!" next to it), there is no save button. After making your changes, just close it and the new .defaults file will be saved. Check the time and date of the file to confirm this.

 

EDIT: On second thought, I may have this confused with the tool and ops library. Give it a shot and see if it works.

 

If you're opening the .defaults file like a MC file and making your edits there....another option would be to save it as tommy.MCX Then close MC and go into Windows Explorer and rename the files. Keep the original just in case.
