LARGE FILE SIZE

I have a large file 91 MB there are 40,000 surfaces It take about 15 min to shade them all. I want to know if this is normal for a file this large or should i be changing something.

computer: hp xw4100 workstation

3.2 GHz P4

4GB ram

Nvidia Quadro fx3000 video card 256MB

xp pro sp2

mcx mr1 sp1

That sounds about right.

You can improve that by setting you graphics performace to "Performance" (right click My Computer)

and

try playing with the

"Chord height" setting on the System Config/Shading page

The bigger you set it, the faster you can shade.

Try setting your display to wireframe (unshaded), turn all levels visible, and run RAM saver.

use a bigger shading tolerance. If the part is large it´s good enough to see the details.
