I am a newb to Excel but am trying to format the X+ output in excel. I am trying to record a macro that will arrange the bitmap, and data slightly different. Every time I try to record a macro it says error, personal macro workbook must remain open. Anyone seen that before? I can't seem to figure out how to find the dang thing let alone how to keep it open. Thanks in advance

I have 2003, when I try to save it to my personal marco workbook it says personal workbook folder in startup must stay open. Oddly enough though it only does this when i try to record a macro in a setup sheet that X plus just ran. I can access the personal workbook from other excel files. Weird. Maybe I am approaching this wrong...Did you record your macros and then apply them to the setup sheet after it was ran? Or did you modify his .xlt to get what you wanted?

I modified and added to the provided macros inside of the .xlt file.

I NEVER save macros in the personal workbook because:

A)It's a hidden file, and to delete macros when working on other files, you have to unhide the workbook,

and

B)If you keep the macro in the originating workbook, it becomes portable to other machines.

and

C) The personal.xls file HAS to be in the startup folder, and if you use an alternate startup folder (NOT XLSTART)then you must copy peresonal.xls to that folder. That leaves the potential for multiple copies of personal workbook.
