Convert solidworks file to mastercam

Hmm...this is my 1st time in this forum.I Hope this is the right place to post..

I've designed my final year project's mechanical parts in solidworks 2005. That parts need to be fabricated by using CNC Milling machine. The problem is,i do not know how to convert solidworks drawing to mastercam file..since i've never learn mastercam,can anyone please help me with the problem..i really need to convert it to mastercam..

Ann,

 

there is a direct converter available for soldiworks files for converting into mastercam ones.

 

go to mastercam website & download solidworks direct translator for the corresponding version of mastercam which you use for NC codes generation.

Sunder described one way to do it. I think it is easier to just open the file in Mastercam...

 

Mastercam has been able to open .sldprt files for a long time and recently has added the ability to open .sldasm files.

 

Another option would be to save as a parasolid and open that with Mastercam.

I agree with Matt. The SolidWorks Direct has a tendancy to lose features in translation. I just bring them in as .sldprt files.

If it is the case as you said

convert "solidworks drawing" to mastercam

Save your drawing as Dxf file, then bring it into

mastercam. just make sure your scale it right (sometime you need to re-scale it)and you good to go
