Mask goemetry by depth

In V9 Mcam if Z depth was set and plane mask was

on geometry drawn at different depths could

be selected in a window - all geometry at that Z

depth could be selected by itself - is this

function still available in X2 - its very handy

for plate work

Make sure in the "Chaining Dialog" to select CPlane at the top. I just did it to make sure I was correct. I created a rectangle at Z0. Set depth to Z-2 created another rectangle. Left Z at -2 value, selected Toolpath contour and window option. With CPlane selected I windowed bothe rectangles. Only the one at Z-2 was selected.

you are corrct - it works for

contours and pocketing - would be nice if

geometry and drilling entities could be selected

by Z depth also - also checked in V9 it only worked for pocketing and contouring

Mask by Depth has been added to the All/Only selection mask functionality in X3.

As a work around now

Create a rectangle in the front view so that

the bottom line of the rectangle includes only the geometry to be selected - set selection to

area - c-plane set to 2d

Until X3 is out this is what I've been doing... I create a dummy 2d contour using the plane mask at the desired Z depth. Then use the "Only display associative geometry" button in the ops manager.
