Add Cuts in high speed waterline

I am trying to get this path to have a max

step over in the add cuts field to .01

 

No matter what I try I get the same result if

I put a value in or not.

 

I think I may need to set something in the steep

shallow , but have know clue how that works.

I am using a .01 step down and .01 step over

the arrows indicate that it is ignoring the step

over

 

Assuming I understand the function correctly.

 

Does any one know how to achieve the result I

am looking for?

Try changing minimum stepdown to .001 or .0001

 

I think what you have in the pic makes the min stepdown override the desired max stepover.

I tried the .001 step down and it gave me an overall

step down of .001

The stepover got better only because of that .001

stepdown

 

Even at .001 it has larger step over in the shallow areas.

 

Must be missing a check box on one of the other

parameters, i'll keep trying anything.

are we talking about the same parameter ?

 

I said "minimum stepdown"

you said "stepdown"

 

Are you sure you changed the right one ?

 

 

Anyway, I was just guessing.

 

Most often when I cut this type of stuff I break it into 2 ops...

 

Surf fin contour with shallow cuts removed, and surf fin shallow to get the rest. Nice even stepdown/over and fast calculation due to using the "old" toolpaths. Works every time.

Yes, sorry for the confusion, I set the min stepdown

to .001 and it, for some reason, produce a .001

stepdown(overall). I don't think it works

properly.

 

Maybe I'll have to give the old paths a whirl

to get the results as you have.

achieve the even stepdown/over.

 

I can't seem to get it.

Matt I got it

 

I did not understand the min step relationship

to the stepover.

 

I put .001 min step down

and.01 on the step over, 45 deg limit angle

 

Its perfect now

Hi Rick, I'm pretty sure you need to activate the steep shallow to make it work. Matt's right about the minimum step down. That setting will affect the others.

For some reason my server rejected my email. I am uploading to FTP site, had to use IE instead of Firefox? It is in the MCX2 Files as (FC253 ADD CUTS-2).

I took the 'extra cuts' off and It looks like

yours, i used .0005. took 2 min

 

When I put .0001 It took over 20 mins

 

No need to upload it.
