Due to network changes at work, I am no longer able to post to our server so we set it up so I could post directly to the computers at the machines. The problem is, if those computers are not running when I start Mastercam, it will put another machine definition in by default. I realize it's because Mastercam is trying to find the NC path and it's not finding it. One solution would be to just start all the computers before opening Mastercam, but there's got to be an easier way. Any ideas would be great. Thanks

My IT guy figured this one out for me. In case anyone else has this problem. Right click the X5 icon in properties-compatability check disable desktop composition. Now it works great.

Actually, the reason I had X5 installed was because it was a new machine. I figured it would be best to just start clean. It does open in X4 on my old machines. I'm going to have the It guys install X4 on the new ones. I'm just hoping it's not the video card. I'll get back to you when X4 is installed and let you know the results. Best Regards Wayne

Ok I got it figured out. The problem was I'm so locked out on my systems that I'm not able to view images on the forum. So I didn't realize that John had such a good description of what to do. I had to get one of the IT guys to log in so I could view the images. Then it worked great. Thanks CParish and Gcode for the great help. BTW I think they should put a sticky on John's instructions again. I know it used to be up there. I have 2 more machines to set up and I'll probably need it again.

They don't appear when I go to Manage List but if I grab one of the other ones. I can then go back through the operation manager and change it there because it shows up through there.

I'm trying to import an image to art to trace using rast to vector It will show the image on the preview but when I bring it in the screen is just white It's a brand new computer win7 and new install. It's worked great on all the previous releases. Thanks

My files don't have the -5 extention on them just the MMD. Is there a way to chnage that?

I did a search and all the files in the folder show up except mine. I'm confused.

Gcode, Are you saying that I may have put them in the wrong place?

I ran the update and it still doesn't see the files. When I go into the cnc machine folder it doesn't say that they're Mastercam X5 MMD or Control files they just say MMD and CONTROL files. Can this be the problem?

I have a new install of X5 on a new machine. Everything seems to be working except when I try to add a new machine type it doesn't recognize my old def. I can grab a default and the change it through the operation manager but I'd rather be able to grab it right away. Thanks Wayne

I have new install of MCam X4 MU3 on one of my computers and I can't seem to get the engrave to work. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Wayne

I've had that happen also, and like John said , I had the first cut in bottom view and the second in top view. When i posted them together it the second cut went to g55. I think you can change it in the view manager to assign g54 to both. Otherwise just post them out separately.

I'm with Rick on High Speed Horizontal. It's great toolpath, but I usually need to go back in and clean the corners with a pocket rest machine.

Which ever one you get, be prepared, they are incredibly noisy. Like Dave said, you feel like your destroying the machine. And everyone in the shop will pretty much hate you. But man do they tear out metal. I use Iscar, But I've heard Mitsubishi is an excellent tool also.

Reko, In order to modify your config.,tool library, and probably a bunch of other things. You need to be able to write to that directory. And also to modify the directory. I've never run Mastercam without having at least Poweruser status, so I'm not sure how well it would work without those permissions. But I know I had issues with Pro-E years ago because of it.

BBGun, I noticed the same thing using Transform on X4. I just delete the transform, make the change and re transform.

It's a new file created in X4. It seems to be random. I tried several other ops and they were fine. just the one I needed got dirty. I'm letting it regen over night.

Hi All, When I change spindle speeds or feed rates on Surface finish contours sometimes my op gets dirty and needs to be regenerated. Yet other times It doesn't. It wouldn't be such a big deal, but some of my programs take hours to generate. Is this a bug? Thanks, Wayne
