Edge curves from solids

Please oh please oh please tell me that the buggy edge curves (or lack of edge curves) bug will be fixed in the next release.

I'm not familiar with the edge curve bug.... What is it? I use edge curves often on solids for my toolpaths. Is there something I should be looking out for?

What I've seen was an at an intersection between two holes. When selecting the curve only a small portion was selected. I think it only messes up on NURBS curves, lines and arcs seem OK.

Rick, mainly what I've seen is incomplete curves that break through the top surface. Usually it's on non-flat surfaces, but today it was on a flat area. There have been other issues, but they're not so easy to type.

Are you talking about edge curves one solids or surfaces. I am using X2MR2 SP1. I only work with solids. They are either imported as parasolids or .sldprt files. I have never had an issue with edge curves. I import the models with no edge curves then create them as needed. Is this the method you are using.

I'm talking about edge curves from solids. The same curves that come in bad from a solid will come in fine from a surface created from that solid.

 

My files are parasolids that were exported from UG. I create edge curves on import.

 

I've tried re-creating the bad edges from the solid when I realize there's a problem. I get another bad curve.

Have your tried importing the solid with no edge curves then creating the curves from the solid once it is imported into mastercam. That is the method I am using and I have not had any issues. My solids are coming from Solidworks not UG. I do not know if that would make a difference.

I had issues with edge curves on surfaces or edge curves imported with solids from step files. But works well if I create curves on solids.

The edge curve problems I've had were with solids created in Mastercam and with Solidworks.

I put edge curves.x_t in the Solids folder on the FTP. No matter what order I do it in, I can't get proper edge curves (from a solid) on the holes that go around the cavity. If you zoom in, you'll see just a segment of the hole.

 

Convert the top face to a surface, create curves and it works. But not with a solid.

I haven't noticed the problem, but I mainly work with solids that have true lines and arcs as the edge curves. I'll definaltely be keeping a closer watch on them though.

You're correct as you already know. This has been issued a bug number as a regression.
