Roll text in cirle

Need to engrave part number on face of round part. Is there a way in MasterCam to do make the text go in a cirle?

In lettering dialog box, choose top of arc or bottom.

Create letters.

check the box for top of arc or bottom of arc. Than just input the radius.

It that in the engraving toolpath?? Is so I dont have that option. I will have to convert the text to drafting lines and chain the letters in a contour toolpath.

Mike,

you don't even need to change the letters into drafting. When you select the geometry use the "window" option and select all the text by giving a close starting point. Use face contour toolpath. Make an endmill that's .01 radius and turn comp off. done

Works every time for me

Windowing works great. But I have found if you pick each letter and keep teh tool in the letter until you have finished it. The engraving time is faster and tip lasts longer because of less plunge moves.

Good suggestion. I am going to try that next time.

Sometimes I do get unnecessary retractions of the tool when it could really stay down.
