I am woundering if there are any users out there that are using a faro arm to bring surface data into mastercam. Right now I go faro arm to Rino to mastercam. Any info would be great.

Check out Verisurf. It is an add-on program that gives you some pretty great features for working with point data.

 

Rhino is an excellent program to build the surfaces with. The only program that I've found that is better is Rapidform, but it is much more expensive. It does let you mesh a point cloud and turn it into a solid though, which is really cool and quite useful.

Solidworks now has a add-on for making surfaces from point clouds.

We use a microscribe arm, that is ported directly into master cam. Microscribe will import point cloud data into master cam, then we can do what ever we want with the data in mastercam.

You might want to talk with faro, and see what they have to offer.
