Good day all

I recently had to reload mastercam on to a new computer because the old one died. the new computer is running windows XP. I remember having to run a patch that would allow you to use file names longer than 8 characters long when running XP. My problem is that I cant seem to find the patch. Does anyone know where I can find it? I have called tech support but the haven"t gotten back to me yet.

Windows 95 allowed 255 character length names, before that 8 was the limit. However I have seen problems in version 9, that if you post name was greater than 8 characters it would not show up, then again, V9 was DOS based so that does make sense.

Sorry I forgot to mention that I am running version 8.1.1. The last time we tried XP with version 8 we hade to change something to allow more than 8 characters. It may well have been a windows setting. I do have a call in to support.I wish my 42 year old brain would remember.

Thanks

Noel

Files with long filenames do not show properly in Mastercam with this combination:

Mastercam style File Get dialog (set using the CNCReg util) *and* "Hide extensions for known files types" enabled in the Windows Explorer Folder Options.

Correct this by disabling "Hide extensions for known files types" in the Windows Explorer Folder Options - or using CNCReg to select the Standard style File Get dialog box.

Thanks John that is exactly what I needed and it worked great.
