Changing sides of one only chain

If you have several chains in a toolpath and one or two are on the wrong side of the contour, how do you "change sides" without effecting the other chains?

I have tried highlighting the "bad" chains and right clicking and clicking on change sides, but it effects all the chains in the geometry window.

BerTau's,

quote:

Try selecting the chain, right click, and 'reverse chain'

This works fine on my computer. This is the only way as comp left or right is applied to the entire set of changes. "Change side" just changes that parameter.

Plasttav, You can also use re-chain single instead of deleting and re-chaining.

I'm amazed how difficult it is to simply have the tool patch climb cut or convention cut to either the inside or the outside of the profile. It should be easy to make pick these two option sets and then select the geometry. Instead, MCAM's approach is effectivly a crap shoot. You don't know on what side the geometries will be located.

Is there a simpler approach?

AlbertM1 I have no problems whatsoever with the direction of my chains. Have you done a searh in the help menu? Try searching for "chains: direction" in your Mastercam help menu

headscratch.gif This isn't a gamble. Again read up on it and maybe you'll have a better understanding.

I have never liked it much either, though I understand how it works. It's a pain when you have a sucky video card and the arrow that shows what direction your chain is going doesn't show up. Round parts that I import as parasolids are often trouble because the start of the arc isn't always at the 3 o'clock position. Just a quirk that ya gotta get used to.

When you select the first entity in the chain, MC assumes the start point at the end of the entity closest to the cursor this determines the chain direction. At that point in the selection process, you can see the direction arrows and reverse them if you wish. Comp is then left or right relative to that direction.
