I see allot of post about renshaw, is anybody out there using marposs....just wondered I was thinking about trying to set up a post for my haas mill for this, but I don’t know much about it....

I've heard good, I've heard bad. Guys that have Renishaw/Blum swear by each one and anything new is always... well... new.

Hey ATG, this is an old post but we have a Marposs probe. Don't have anything in the post for it yet. Wouldn't matter... not all the macros work & we are not happy but tech is working on it. Do you have the Corner Find With Angle  macro O9316 ?

Considering ATG hasn't been on the forum since April, 2013, I'd say your chances of getting an answer back are slim to none.

 

Have you contacted Marposs to make sure you've got all the latest macros?

 

I'm not sure about Marposs, but I've found Renishaw to have excellent customer service. If you can't get help with your current probe manufacturer, it might be worth a call to their competition. I've seen people that weren't happy with their supplier, and had success after switching.

 

Customizing a post is fairly easy, and you can make the Custom Drill Cycles output the necessary code to drive your probe...

Yes, the tech is working on it now. I forgot to add that to my previous post.

As far as customizing the Marposs macros... yikes!!! Have you ever seen them? There are many for just a simple routine, those macros jump in & out of eachother like crazy. Hard to follow.

Example... The macro for the safety move for X, Y or Z works for X and or Y but alarms out when using Z. So Now I can't use that to check to see of the operator removed a slug, or clamp,  etc. There are other macros also that alarm out. I hope he finds out soon. The past 2 days was the perfect time to learn these before I actually needed them but with all the alarms... :-(

I was referring to customizing the Mastercam Interface, and your Post Processor, to output the Probing Macro Calls.

That's a Fanuc Macro call format, and is what Renishaw uses.

Marposs.... how good is your Italian. Marposs macros are structured similar to Renishaws, well at least for their tool setters. I actually prefer the Marposs tool setting functionality over a TS27r. But, the support is lack luster.

Then it is very simple to configure a Mastercam Post Processor to output the needed codes, using the Custom Drill Cycles in Mastercam.

 

If you are new to doing this, then I'd suggest contacting your Reseller for some support. If editing Post Processors isn't your cup of tea, then I'd suggest contacting a good Post Developer to quote the work...
