Copy-Paste ops on X3MU1 inconsistent?

Has anyone else experienced trouble controlling where a copied operation pastes itself? I move the red insertion arrow to a location, select operation-1 with the LMB, click the selected op with RMB, click copy, move mouse next to red insertion arrow justunder op3, click RMB paste. The new operation places itself as op4 (good).

Now move the red insertion arrow just under op6, copy op4, paste next to red arrow and the new op comes up as op 6 instead of op7. It doesn't seem to be consistent where it pastes the op. This procedure works fine for me in X2/MR2/SP1 but not in X3/MU1.

On a similar note, copy-cut-paste in the operation mangler using Windows hot keys Ctrl-C / Ctrl-X / Ctrl-V has been hit and miss the last couple versions of MC. Fortunatly is more hit than miss though. Sometimes it just doesn't work at all.

Anyone else ever see that or do I just bang on the keyboard too much?

The way you are doing it is always inconsistent. Even in earlier versions of X and X2...

Don't use Copy/Paste with the red arrow, there is a better way.

Select the operation(s) you want to copy by LMB clicking. Now Right mouse click and hold dow the right mouse button. Continue holding down the button and drag the operation(s) you want to copy. As you drag a single operation it will show you a ghosted image of that operation. If you are dragging multiple operations, the icon will show two little folders, indicating that you have multiple ops selected.

Now drag your cursor down to the operation you want to copy your operations to (continue holding down the right mouse button), and let go of the right mouse button. You will now get a little pop-up menu that has these options:

Move Before

Move After

Copy Before

Copy After

Cancel

This allow you to avoid the red arrow and give you total control of moving/copying operations...

Copy/Paste sucks. Right mouse click/Hold/Drag is much much nicer...

Anubis,

Same goes for Ctrl-X,C,V.

These are windows commands, just like Copy/Paste through the right-click menu. The RMB/Hold/Drag/make choice in the menu was built by CNC Software...

I've never had it fail. I have had problems trying to do it too quickly and dropping on the wrong operation for my destination, but that is entirely my fault.

Colin,

I always use the RMB hold and drag method when I can't afford a mishap, like when working on huge files with huge toolpaths.

But I like using keyboard shortcuts because doing so is faster and doesn't require near perfect aim with the cursor.

I could rant about software for Windows not being totaly Windows compatable but I'd preaching to the choir methinks so I won't. smile.gif

I was just wondering if anyone has seen the same thing more as a sanity check than anything else.

Thanks.

Thanks Colin, I am aware of that method too. I will have to try using it more to see if it solves my problem. I kind of gave up on that method because the

Move Before

Move After

Copy Before

Copy After

Cancel

pop-up doesn't always show up and I have to do it two or three times. Might just be my fat fingers, don't know for sure yet.

Yes, could be graphics card related...

I notice you are running X3, there is a thread in the Beta Forum about clearing the X3 Event Logger. This may also be causing some issues. X3 seems to run slower the longer you have the event logger running.

In the system tray you will see an icon for the MC event logger. Right click on the icon, and click "clear logger".

This might help...
