Looking for new mouse/navigator

I am looking for something to use with X3, Solidworks and AutoCad. I am not sure if I want something to take the place of my current mouse or to just be an addition to what I currently have.

What are you designing with now?

I would like to find something in the range of $150.00

Also, I do use this computer for more than just design so what ever it is needs to be good for regular PC use.

No, it's not a problem. As big as Mastercam is, it's still a small market application as compared to an AutoCAD, or SolidWorks. As long as you're using Mastercam X or above you're fine.

I've had my SpaceNavigator since they first cam out and I won't program without one. I keep one on me desk and I have another one I keep in my bag so wherever I go I have it.

smile.gif I use the Space Navigator PE ... $71.50 shipped UPS. smile.gif

It is supported in X2Mr2Sp1 as listed on their site. I even tried it out in X3, and V9.1. Works fine in Autocad 2008 and SW2009 too.

The 3-d mouse is a neat idea, but the reason I got the Space Nav is to give my "mouse hand" a break.

I think putting all those funtions into a mouse would slow me down. IMHO The 3-d connexion stuff works great, and seems to be compatible with a lot of software.

I have had the Space Navigator for a couple of years now and find it to be more of a paper weight than a help. You get sooooo much better control from the dynamic rotate and mouse than you do with the navigator. (it has a very limited amount of control adjustability) I have been designing and programming for about 15 years now and thought that this would be the ticket but found out otherwise.

It is very neat to use for Google Earth though. My kids love it.
