Gear tooth and rack tooth

I have used the gear c-hook to create a gear tooth but is there a method to create a rack tooth to match?

Go to traceparts web site they have solids of racks and gear there that might be exactly what you are looking for. Anytime I am designing a machine I go there to get as much solid hardware as I can to keep from having to make all the solids.

look at pages 14,15

this is the form of a rack cutter, and how a spur is made

 

in theory, if you "unroll" a spur gear, you get a rack gear

a 20 deg PA spur gear with diametriacl pitch ( DP )

then a rack is a vee with 20 deg walls pitched along at ( DP )

Machinery's Handbook spells it out very well. Otherwise, make a gear with the same pitch, and use the number for circular pitch that GEAR.DLL gives you. This is the linear pitch along the pitch line. You can also use the tooth height and depth from the gear. The walls will be the pressure angle.
