Surface as Stock

Hey Guys, I'm trying to make a surface(ruled/lofted), so I can save it as stl for stock in my verify. I can't figure out how to close the ends so I dont get the message "This stl file is not usable, even "as-is""

Should be able to create a rectangular surface at the end of your part. Then use "trim to curves" using the profile/cross section of your part as your curves. When mc asks you to choose the surface to keep, choose inside the chain.

I tried surface boudary and trimming, AND extrude. Still get the "TO many problems with STL file." I woul dlike to know what the problems are. Email sent Hardmill

So do I select the x_t parasloid fil ein my verify>options>stock shape>file>parasolid file name to make it work. SO far it isnt. I'm still getting the error with the resent STl file

Try using: Create Flat Boundary Surface

 

 

to close in the ends..........no need to trim........lot faster.

Im doing something wrong here. Noting works. In my part file, I created a new level, created my geometry, made both a lofted/ruled surface, AND an extruded surface(as in, tried them both, at seperate times). I created a flat boundary on each end. Saved the file as an stl. Picked the file in verify and...

You dont need to save the solid as STL, just

read it straight into verify via the options

window.

Just tried it by putting a parallel toolpath

Al I'm doing is milling some slots in a pc of channel. I anted to verify with a pc of channel and not a square solid block. Still want the file?

If you merge the x_t, translate to where it belongs

If you've already created a surface model of the stock, why not extrude it to a solid. Use the 'solid' option in verify and select it from the view. You've got lvl3, you should use solids whenever possible - IMHO.

Extruding the surface (not solids) will also close the ends. Did you remove the faces to get them out of there or just create individual surfaces from geometry? I'm kinda miffed here as extrude has always worked really well and gives me watertight geometry.
