this very well may be an idiot question from the standpoint of someone that knows hardware, but here it goes:

 

if i've run a verify and am navigating around the finished graphic to investigate the virtual part, is any screen lag associated with the graphics card or the processor?

Actually both.

 

The newer graphics cards actually have 'on-board' processors, so any lag you are seeing probably starts there.

answer but my guess would be both..

I am swapping my board and card at home from PCI-E1

to PCI-E2 (GTX 260 card)I already have a 3.2 cor 2

duo chip.

 

I am hoping it drops the lag and other graphics

issues. I'll keep ya posted

You could try watching the CPU usage monitor in Task Manager while rotating. If it goes all the way to 100%, then the CPU is working as hard as it can. On the other hand, it could be taking some load off the GPU (graphics card) due to it's shortfalls.
