DXF importing

Lately I've been getting .dxf files of blueprints for the parts we are making along with .stp files of the solid model.

 

The .dxf files of the blueprints are using my settings for text so when I open them up, the text is everywhere. Is there any way to stop the mastercam translator from using my text settings and use the translated files text settings? I don't think its a font type problem, I think its the character spacing and extra line spacing that's the problem.

It could depend on several things - we are trying our best to match up with the AutoCAD settings on Text andf MText entities, but they are more flexible than us so we can't always.

I'd be more than happy to look at a file or two if you care to send one my way ([email protected]).

If you're using the dxf's just for dimensioned "prints" (either viewed on-screen or printed out on paper) one of the free viewers (edrawings, etc) will probably maintain the formatting. AutoCAD text has been difficult to import clean in all the CAD systems I've experienced

Thanks Mike S I used the edrawings viewer from Solidworks and it kept the formatting.

 

Pete files will be sent shortly. I figured it would be something that doesn't translate over well to mastercam.
