STL to a solid. Possible?

Teker, What I do is:

1) bring the STL in (as mesh).

2) make sure the fixture (solid, surfs, no matter)is visible - I usually turn everything else off

3) do a "save some". When it asks to select, choos the STL and all of your fixture components.

4) save it as an STL. Now you can verify against it.

Make sure that all components that you want to save as one STL are touching, to get a true watertight STL.

No need to boolean anything. They will save to one STL file as long as they all touch.

I do this all the time.

^^^ That is exactly how I do it. No need to create a solid model.

Also, if you create a STL file in Verify, you can load it in your 'Stock Setup' as a "File" and turn on the shading. When you do this you will get your "cut" part displayed as a translucent solid on top of your geometry. You will be able to see through the STL material display and see your part underneath...
