I just overwrote my mc9 file with all the toolpaths,I made a nc file but 2operations were at the wrong wcs.

Is there any way to bring that file back like in Autocad they always make .bak file.

Does mastercam ever do anything like that (I never seen any)

Any OR all sugestions would be helpful.

Thanks redface.gif

I think there is auto-backup set in V8.1. You have to push ALT + A setting up this feature in V9.0. If you did not do so, you might not have "2nd chance" this time.

To set up V9.0 Autosave fature:

quote:

1. Choose Main Menu, Screen, Configure. The System Configuration dialog box opens.

2. Choose the Start/Exit tab.

3. Choose AutoSave. The AutoSave dialog box opens

4. Check Active to enable AutoSave, or clear it to disable AutoSave.

5. Enter the time interval in minutes in the box to the right of Interval (in minutes).

6. Enter a file name to be used for auto-saved files other than the current MC9 file name.

7. Check Save using active Mastercam file name to use the name of the current MC9 file, or clear it to use the AutoSave file name.

8. Check Overwrite existing Mastercam file name to overwrite the existing file, or clear it to prompt the operator before overwriting.

Note: This option is only available if you access the AutoSave dialog from Screen, Config.

9. Check Prompt before saving if you want to prompt the operator before saving, or clear it to save without prompting.

10. Check Save after every operation if you want Mastercam to force an Autosave after every toolpath creation or regeneration.

11. Do one of the following:

¨ Enter or choose other defaults.

¨ Choose OK to enact all settings from all tabs and close the dialog box.

Choose Yes to update the current Configuration File. Choose No to use the settings only for the current Mastercam session.

¨ Choose Cancel to abandon all changes made to this as well as to other tabs and close the dialog box.

Notes:

¨ Some warnings and messages are not displayed during AutoSave.

¨ You can enable or disable AutoSave and change settings during operation by pressing [Alt+A].

Hi lovemachine

Look for the file with exploror while Mastercam is turned off. Because if the 10 minute default is on and it takes you 11 min. to find it ,,,,it will be the new save over the file you are looking for. also if you turn on autosave (ALT A) it will save what you have for a file right then.

Dear Lovemachine,

AutoCad .bak and MasterCam Autosave are the same. They only protect you from crashes not mistakes.

If you want MasterCam Autosave acts like AutoCad Backup, check Active to enable AutoSave, Enter the time interval in 60 minutes (default),do not check Save after every operation. This way you may recover your file from mistakes before your 60 minutes time up. (but how do you know when was your last autosave ended? Good luck!)

The point is: the AutoCad Backup is no better than MasterCam Autosave.

Try Pro/E or Solidworks if you want to go back from your mistakes. They have History features.

Hope this will help.
