3-D software

The company I work for is looking into 3-D printers, what 3-D software is everyone using with mastercam? and user friendly, cuz 3-D is new to me, also will I have to upgrade to X4? we currently have X2 Thanks

All you need cad file wise is a .stl file. The dimension printing software will take care of the rest. You can output a .stl right from mastercam. If you want a cad system itself, go with solidworks.

We have an Objet Eden333. Like wise it only needs a STL of the file to be printed.

We model our parts/assemblies in ProE. I have in the past modeled some simple parts in Mastercam solids then saved as STL and then printed them out on the Eden.

we have looked at two types of printers (Z-Corp and Dimension ) I think they are leaning toward Dimension, we will be doing some small mold design so 3-D software will be needed

Different printers/materials for different applications. What is yours? (you did mention small mold?)

So get the metal machine and output Stainless molds.

they will do other materials to. I even played with one that does Titanium.

The Solidworks stimulus package. Whats the catch? Can you save files, save as different types? It's a huge download at 1.7GB. No other info is given at the site.

Found it, licensing agreement. This sounds like a great way to try Solidworks before you buy it.

 

A Engineering Stimulus Package License for the Software expires after ninety (90) days, does not include Subscription Service, and is not upgradable.
