Machine and Control Definitions

Does anyone have a good guide to setting up machine and control definitions?

I have the following machines:

Haas Minimill w/4th axis

Haas VF-3 w/5 axis trunion

Haas Sl-30 with live tooling and bar feeded

Haas 5 x 10 Router

Ona Wire EDM

Ona Sinker EDM

Omax Water-Jet

I have never set the machine and control definitions and might need some guidance.

Thanks

For machine and control, start by simply making a copy of the default files, and rename them. You will find that very little or nothing will need to be modified.

The PST file is what you will need to be concerned with.

I have many parameters modified in the control def and machine def.

Back when X first came out (there were no MD and CD prior to that), when you updated your posts from V9 to X, there was a check box to have MC create a MD and CD for you based on the information in your post. I believe that feature is still there. You could rename your existing defs so MC won't see them and then run your posts through the updater to have them created. From there, you might have some minor tweaks to do, but it'll get you a good start.

I agree. That is a good way to do it.
