flowline surface conflict found, tool path not possible

We overcome this limitation of the Flowline toolpath, by using the Surface Finish Blend toolpath.

If you look at your surfaces when they are unshaded, you'll see the surface grid lines which run in the UV directions of the original untrimmed surfaces.

You are getting a conflict because the UV vectors of the surfaces don't match.

Either that, or you can write separate flowline toolpaths for each surface. I've had to do this before when using version 6-8 of Mastercam. In Version 9 they introduced "Project-Blend" which is what the new Blend toolpath is based on.

Get a copy of Rhino.

Merge the surfaces into a single surface.

Save the file.

Open or merge the Rhino file directly into MC.

I would love to see a Rhino plug-in for MC that would give MC users all the surfacing capabilities of Rhino.

While the basic surface creation tools of MC are adequate, the surface editing tools in MC are very primitive and extremely limited.

Try installing all the sample part files that come on the installation DVD or download them from the mastercam web site. The picture below was made from the file: 3d-project-blend generic chamber.mcx. Also take a look at the file: 3d-project blend.mcx as it has many individual surfaces with criss-crossing UV mesh lines. In the picture below the the two blue chains are used as the blend lines.

R u talking about a port? you are right in using a flowline 5 axis. make sure your surface offset is correct and you will also need a lead chain to drive your cutter off of. If for some reason u are having problems with the surface you imported from you client, try projecting lines over it from a side view and from that point recreate the port surface. I do this crap all day and will try to help you if u still are in need...
