Operations Library

^^^ THIS.

Not only can you import/export operations to/from a Library, you can Import ops directly from an existing MCX file.

This is my new favorite method, rather than using an Ops Library. I just do an "Import", navigate to the folder with the file I'm looking for, then select the operations from the list.

You can also use the "assign current tool/construction planes" to make even less work for yourself.

I have libraries setup for standard operations I use, various size taps, reamers, clearance holes, countersunk holes that interpolate the countersink, 3D HSM toolpaths that work well together etc. These are good because the depths are already setup especially for chamfering the top of the hole.

I've gotten in the habit when I have a good combination of toolpaths to save them to various operation libraries.

One of the problems that I have with importing from another MCX file is I can't remember which MCX file to import from. But, they're ALWAYS in my ops library. wink.gif

If I know ahead of time that similar jobs are coming up, I'll open the "old job" and save as the new job, then delete all geometry, merge the new geometry, reselect the chains and regen. Done!

Like Matthew, my ops library has drilling, reaming, tapping, boring, c'bores, pin/bushing holes for every size we use, pockets, contours, contour-ramps, engraving, scribing ...everything I need with the correct step down, step over, lead in/out, ruff, finish, etc for every tool in my library. I don't even have to look at 90% of the toolpath parameters. I know they're right. I set them up 8 years ago. biggrin.gif
