PLOTTING ON WINDOWS 2000 NT

WE JUST UPGRADED FROM WINDOWS 98 TO WINDOWS 2000 NT AND WHEN WE GO TO PLOT WE GET A ERROR "WARNING ERROR IN INTIALIZING COM1"

 

WE HAVE A DRAFTMASTER HP PLOTTER AND IT IS CONNECTED TO TWO CPU'S VIA A AB BOX. IS THERE A FIX, A WORK AROUND OR A PATCH TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM?

Welcome to the forum. FYI, capital letters (using Caps Lock button) is equal to yelling on the internet. Before posting again, please deactivate the Caps Lock button on your keyboard.

Are you using the Plot feature in Mastercam? What version of Mcam are you using? Have you updated all the drivers for the plotter and O/S? Is your O/S Win 2000 Pro SP2, or Win NT 4.0 SP6? Mastercam relies on drivers from the O/S to accomplish things such as Print and Plot. It can be used as a CAD system but certain features are not as sophisticated as other software for plotting. Try restarting the O/S and see if this helps.

Is this plotter one of the older serial plotter?

If not it sounds like you may have the win driver set to "N". Please supply more info on plotter and computer. Are you using a modem to connect to the internet?

I don't know if this might help you, but I had a problem accessing my COM1. After looking around, I found that I had a UPS Selected under control panel/power options, and it was selected to use COM1. Although I had no UPS connected, the computer still had COM1 designated for that.

With Older Vector style plotters, you might need to add drivers that are no longer supported by Windows. I believe that WINPLOT by Softech is the product.
