Solid machining error

Recommended Posts

I am using V9SP1 and have a p4 2.2mg. with 512mg. of ram and a 64mg video card. I created a solid and put toolpaths on that solid for my first set-up. I then rotated my part 180^ in the front view and renamed it 2.mc9 and put toolpaths on the same solid and it worked just fine. Then I rotated the part from the side view and put toolpaths on the side (a pocket area) and save it as 3.mc9. Then when I did a file get and brought it right back in file 3.mc9 that is I got a toopath edge/s or face/s not found.

If you go to toolpath operations and look at the toolpaths there are no red "x" and you can see faces under geo. and they also regen fine.

But if you go to solids manager it is dirty the stop is before the toolpaths and if you move the stop after the toolpaths and do a regen it gives you the same error. Then if you go back and repick your faces and regen the toolpaths and regen the solid everthing is just fine untill you do a file get. Then you get the same error mad.gif I then rotated the part 180^ from the side agian and put toolpaths on the other side witch has a pocket just like the side I am getting the errors on and it works fine. mad.gifmad.gifmad.gifmad.gif .

I called my dealer and he enturn sent the file to cnc and there comment was it's an enternal problem.

For the set-up that I am having the problem with I ended up creating surfaces from the solid and creating a dumb solid from the surface. I hate anything that is dumb. Ha Ha.

I don't post very often because I usually don't have any problems but I do read lots of your post and find them very educational. Thanks everyone for all your help.

Try using your first file and just put the Tplane in side and save this as another test file program or bring the op from the other files by import and save this and bring it back.

Want to see if you have the same trouble.

I would probably guess you could not share the probelm file with me?Could you?

I think iowajim62 hit the nail on the head.

There is a chook called nohist.dll. This chook will turn your solid into a dumb solid. You can do the same by saving as a parasolid and reading the parasolid back in. I prefer to toolpath on a solid with no history tree just for the reasons you state smile.gif

The WCS manager would allow you to move the toolplane without moving the part.

Thanks everyone I will try your suggestion.

but as far as the geo. being moved if you regen the solid alone it works fine. I never thought of using WCS but I will. We save files 1,2,3 and 4 ect. to make it easier for the other 20 users to understand. I have a hard enough time tring to teach them the basics. Some people just don't pick it up. Agian thanks I'll see what happens.
