Change rapid on 1 tool only

running on a haas control and i would like to change the rapid on 1 tool only to 25%.....is it possible?

Change it to retract at feedrate... need more info...

what im doing is i have a special tool to deburr the backside of a hole. I call it a clothespin tool...not sure what its called exactly but it looks like one of those old style clothespins. Anyway i need it to not rapid at 100% down into the hole because it leaves a mark at the top of the hole but when im in 25% rapid it looks good. I just was not sure if there was a code for haas controls to tell it to run at 25% vs 100%. Im probably going to end up just moding the tool a little and be done with it.

Your linking params & plunge rate should take care of that...

Ok. What i want to do is on a drill cycle g81 feed down to z-.5 at a feedrate of 200. then feed up to z-.4 at a feedrate of 20. I have my plunge rate set to 200. but it is greyed out! I didnt think it was possible to have 2 feedrates on the same g81 drill cycle.

Sounds like you need/want a custom drill cycle.... this has been discussed (not recently) but try a search, and see if any of the old threads help you out.

Custom drill cycle is probably the best, easiest fix. I wrote one for slowing drill entry into cross holes in a manifold. Use the additional parameters available with custom cycles to define z levels and feedrates (or factors) and edit the post to output longhand code instead of a canned cycle.

Point can & will do this...tho it is a bit cumbersome. If you don't do it that often, it is a good option. If you use it alot...custom drill cycle is the way to go

Not to hijack this thread, but I have a question about custom drilling cycles.

 

When selecting a custon drill cycle, the pull down list says Custom Drill Cycle #9, etc. How can these be named for the function that they do? No matter what I try, it seems to be locked and un-editable.

Hi.....

 

First you pull out a machine type ( for ex: mill) ------ Settings------control defn manager------text------Mill drill cycle-----then move the slider on the right side-------type below drill cycle 9------and save this setting.

Thanks, that worked. I was trying to change the section called 'Canned Cycle Descriptions' How silly of me.
