Help with 15 Deg Taper

I have a part that has a 15 Deg TAPER X .157 DEEP. (Outside Profile) I am new to Mastercam.

I have my tool drawn correct in the library. Just kinda lost on doing it the right way.

Any help would be great.

if you are asking how to cut the angle without seeing the part you can to a contour.

Posting a picture will get you more responses directed at solving your problem. Use something like Gadwin print screen to capture a photo.

 

It sounds like you are trying to cut a tapered boss or wall? As Jay suggested if you are using a tapered cutter you can contour or pocket. If you do not have a tapered cutter and you have the solids option you can surface the taper, this is assuming you have a 3d model (solids and or surfaces).

You need to set the diameter of the tool. The diameter will depend on what diameter you chained on the part. You'll also probably want to run the tool deeper than .157. Calculate the point where the taper of the tool meets the taper on the part to find you tool diameter.

Using contour or 2D chamfer? Using contour will use the major diameter of the tool. Using 2D chamfer will take into account the angle and tip diameter.

Thanks Jim... Pull this file (if you want). It's actually a V8 file. Change the .MCX to .MC8 (can't upload V8 files). Last week I had to cut a part on V8 Level 1 It takes a few minutes buts the angle is perfect.
