is there a C-Hook for this?

I have a piece of 1/8 flat stock that will be bent at a 40 degree angle after I machine it.

Isn't there a c-hook that "unrolls" or un-bends the 2d wireframe geometry?

 

All I need is the overall size of the part before it gets bent.

Do you have a Solid or Surfaces of the geometry?

 

Do a search for 'map.dll' or 'Surface Curves'.

 

I've covered this a few times in the past. Basically you need a single surface that represents the shape of the formed part. You create Surface Curves for the wireframe edges. Then you create a flat surface and use the Map CHook to map the surface curves from the bent surface to the flattened surface.

We (4D Engineering) used to make a C-hook called Unfold for wireframe geometry, back in the 90's But it barely made it to Mastercam V9 and never made it to X I'm afraid.

I think what he is looking for is something that also calculates the bend deformation allowance calculations. The unfold chook that Rich mentioned did this but not the flatsurf chook.
