we are doing some stuff that has a lot of surfaces. is it normal for a "surface-rough

-pocket" on around 640 surfaces in a boundary, to take over an hour to generate

a tool path ? 850mhz p3 with 768 megabytes of ram, etc. the whole pocket is about

100mm by 75mm with an island of 50mm by 25mm

and 15mm deep. lots of surfaces, very busy shape, and using a 10mm cutter. it's hard to keep from falling asleep after 8 or 10 hours

of waiting.

try reducing cut tolarance down for roughing .010"

and then batch for overnight proseccing.

also turn of the optimize in the gap settings

for finish , this can help speed things up.

on finish stuff. i hit the button, and go home or clean my office ,make coffee, go and surf the mastercam forum .
