copying operations to new machine groups

start with one machine group create a tool path, make a new machine group and copy that tool path to the new machine group. open up the parameters in that group and look at your tool. it turns holder length to ZERO, if you copy from an operation group to another operation group it is ok!

I just replicated that Rick. COpying from One Machine Group to another, it zeros the holder length.

 

Looks like you need to QC it

not to mention that your tool can get all out of whack in X6. It will say one thing in your operation manager but when you open that operation up it will be something completely different. I had posted code that I ran thru vericut that had the wrong tool number. Took a while to figure this one out. I don't copy operations any more. Would like to but too unstable.

Works fine for me in X6

 

It absolutely does not work in X6, or X5 for that matter.

 

Every day I use X5 and X6 and Everyday I have to change those values from Zero.

I have never had luck copying ops between Machine Groups. A work around is to use import. Just hit save, and then import the op from the same file. It should work fine.

I've never had much luck with more than one machine group in a MCX-* file. I typically work on the One File - One Machine method. If I'm taking a part from a lathe to a mill, I create a seperate Mill MCX-* file.

 

It *should* work, but my strike rate hasn't been that good
