Makino is by far and away has the best 5 axis packages available. From the Mag series to the D500 trunions we have them all and I have been very impressed.
Jay,
It appears to me that you don't have a computer that thing is a frickin' tractor!
I had a sneaky suspicion that my computer (if I can call it that now) was not up to par. Even though I'm running 64 bit I still feel inadequate.
I just got windows 7 put on this thing last month. Guy next to me had been running XP.
Now.... how do I convince the powers that be to get me a computer that is "worthy"?
The catia guys are running about the same computer that I am.
I normally work on larger files. I tend to experience that when my file size gets above 50 megs Mastercam seems to slow down when trying to complete tasks.
Is anybody else exeperiencing this?
How do I get better performance?
Since it started here as well.
Funny I type in my email and they never get back with me....
I have been thinking about starting a website with the funny things I have put into the comments over time. Due to the fact that I have never heard from anybody it allows me to vent.
I have had issues with the Haas Control and Mastercam with trunion applications in the past. My problems were mainly when I was making swarf type cuts. The trunion would get lost and not know what side of the "wall" it was supposed to be on. I did a lot of research on this and found a lot of different work arounds. Never had a whole lot of success. I'm now programming a Makino D500 with absolutely zero of the problems I had with the Haas.
I think we need to come up with a new process for benchmarking our computers. The current process was excellent for past software and hardware.
Anybody got any suggestions?
I have tried to increase my arc filter tolerance for surface high speed opti tool paths and I get crashes or violations in the tool path. I would like to use it but, I can't get it to work.
You need to look at the surface high speed tool paths. Trochoidal motion is the only way to go on removing large amounts of material and not fully radially engaging your cutters.
Stock model for me causes lots of problems. Especially when trying to use a 5 axis path and trim it to a stock model. Also, Opti Rest with stock model causes problems. It crashes a lot.
I use both rest rough and opti rest daily. Works great here.
Only problems before X6 MU1 was stability of stock model when using it in these tool paths. I had a lot of crashes before MU1.
Thanks for the responses.
I'm guessing HT is Hieu? LOL
We post thru ICAM outside of Mastercam and our post needs some work I think. It doesn't recognize the WCS and tool planes on a horizontal the same way that Mastercam "wants" to see them. I agree point tool paths is easier if the post will recognize the rotations you are looking for thru a tool plane change.
