Wasn't there at one time an R plane edit in the menu for changing the r plane on 2d geometry? As is edit depth. Or am I not looking in the right place?

There doesn't seem to be an edit for r plane. I guess you have to do it within your parameters.

There is an "Edit Jump" which sets a different retract plane than the one specified in the parameters of the drill operation. This allows for multiple points to be drilled with one op and "jump" over obstacles such as clamps and other fixtures without having each and every hole clear the same height. Is this what you were referring to? HTH

What I am getting at is if I select pionts by window or mask on arc lets say. remember this is 2d geo file all at Z0. within those points lets say some are at a negative z depth (below Z0) so I want to change not only the z drill depth but also I want a constant r plane of say .1 on 3d models its easy, just set the retract to inc .1 and MC does the rest. but on 2d I have to go to point edit and edit depths and I also need to change the r plane

G81 Z-.25 R.1 F5.

 

1 hole at Z-5. plane

 

G81 Z-5.25 R-4.9 F5.

Oh sorry, Yes I think you would need to use "edit jump" then.

It will give you what you want *if* you first translates all holes so that they reside at the correct Z level.

Thats it. long ago cant remember the ver # I thought there was an r plane edit just like edit depth. we often import fab bases from acad with as many as 600 holes dif depths and all. really s^@ks changing all that geometry

600 holes??? I did a die shoe with over 300 holes before and that sure was... uh...fun.
