HAAS DNC into Memory

Hello all. We have 4 older HAAS machines that we DNC feed. From time to time we get a program that we load into memory and run from there. We just got a new HAAS and are still trying to learn the new look and how things work. For the most part everything is the same just looks different. We use DNC-MAX and remote request the progams to the mill. We can't seem to figure out how to get the smaller programs into memory. We start in the List Program page, send the remote request, enter the porgram number that should be sent from DNC-MAX, and hit receive. This is how we do it on the older HAAS but doesn't seem to work on the new one. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

If you have smaller programs, how about using a USB flash drive and load it from there.

Does the new machine have ethernet capabilities?

we use thumb drives on our newer haas's.

 

did you set your baud rate the same on both?

Baud rate would be my guess, if it is small programs slow the machine baud down to the same as the older ones so you don't have to change settings at the DNC'er.

Thanks for the reponses guys. Yes to the same baud rate @ both ends. We use 38400 on all the HAAS machines. I was trying to avoid having to load the porgram on a USB since it's already on the server ready to send to the mill. The remote request works great. Just means they send the remote request and put it in DNC mode everytime which isn't a big deal. I was just trying to see if I was missing something. It seems like it should be as easy on the new one as it is on the old ones.

after sending the "Remote Request", highlight "All Programs" from the bottom of the "List Program" page, and the select "Receive".

 

This will prepare the machine to load whatever is sent into main memory.

 

With a new Haas, I recommend the Ethernet Option. They have this setup where it is literally plug and play, and makes files transfers issues a thing of the past. No software required.

If you want the remote request to work like the other Haas machines. Change the Synchronization from xon/xoff to DC Codes. Haas defaults this setting to xon/xoff when they ship the machines from the factory. With the setting on DC Codes - the machine will then send an X-ON when Receive is pressed - thereby making it work for remote without using a timeout or getting the machine ready first.
