Hello all................

As a rookie in the Mastercam world, I am having trouble after importing an autocad or solidworks file.

I can get it to the XYZ origin/location that I want, just can't recognize a line to start a chain for a toolpath, or to delete all of the unnessecary lines that

our engineers seemt to include...............

Any help would be great.

Thanks

Chris

Welcome to the forum Chris, also after importing if you are still wondering what all is on your screen go up to your top menus and find "screen" and then click on "statistics".

That should tell you what kind of entities are on the screen. Like Tom asked if your bringing in solids and you don't have the solids option you won't be able to work with anything.

"...if your bringing in solids and you don't have the solids option you won't be able to work with anything..."

Not entirely true...

You can work with imported Solids even without the Solids add-on being licensed...you just can't modify them or make new ones.

I think what TheatreWizard is seeing is that the solid model or surfaces came in but no wireframe geometry was brought in at the same time. You can go to Create/Curves to access "edge curve" creation and put wireframe entities one, some, or all edges of the solid. You can also go to Settings/Configuration/Converters and turn on the "Edge Curves" checkbox so that the edge geometry entities will be created when the next file(s) is/are imported.
