I've been on NT ever since.

I loved NT until I got employees.

Since I didn't know how to set up security on it, my help kept crashing my PC.

Best thing I ever did was to buy Win 2K.

It was easy to use and I never had to spend another weekend rebuilding my shop computer.

NT had some...issues with recoverability. Not the least of them was NT's inability to recognize an existing same-version NT installation as a viable target for upgrade/reinstall. VGA mode was a poor substitute for the recovery console. It's boot partition size limits made for some intersting gyrations when trying to get it installed on large hard drives, too.

Win2K is *much* easier to recover and fix than earlier versions of NT were. It was a highly worthwhile upgrade. Unlike, say, Windows XP...

+100 to Rick on this .

I will not argue about macs or Linux , cause it is unproductive discussion and rather senseless too ,cause the real world (work place) is 100 %

Wintel and we must used to live in new reality :

I am sure that Blaster is only first of the new big wave of viruses exploiting Winnt family security bugs .

Soon will come funny times.

And it will help Apple ,IBM, Mandrake ,Red hat ,SUSE and others ! smile.gif

And it is not wonder that Win2000pro costs more

then WINXP pro !

Plasttav... I bought 2 copies of Win 2K pro. Got the very first release....

It has never crashed yet.....but I think it leaks like a seive. I haven't patched it at the shop, no internet....

Do they have it all patched up now with most of the good fixes and drivers?

I dont like this XP I'm using here at the house and I would have replaced it with win 2k but I thought that XP was more secure.

Worms and viruses have me a little worried about Win 2k and the net now....

I wish I knew more about this stuff......
