Parametric programming

Hello,

 

I am fairly new to Mastercam and have a question. Is there a way to program families of parts without having to recreate or design each dif. size part. For example I have 4 parts with common features but all 4 parts are a dif. body diameter. I used another software long ago that allowed users to put information in a spread sheat and the program would draw from that to adjust for changes to a part.

 

I believe it was called parametric programming.

Anything truly parametric in nature, I will always write macros to accomplish.

 

In Mastercam, the geometry isn't parametric, so you end up modifying and manipulating the geometry.

 

in MC4SW, you can edit the parametric geometry, regenerate the part.

In NX you can drive the model from a spread sheet.

Solidworks can do this as well and if you use MCfSW, you can drive MC toolpaths with a spread sheet
