When I am creating a new tool in the tool manager I use the tab key to navigate between the fields. The default action is to not highlight the text in the text box. I would rather have this highlight the text for editing so I don't have to click on each individual field to highlight the text.

Yes, I couldn't agree more. I work the same way. We ran into a small technical issue with that but I'm sure we can get past it!! It's definitely on the list.

From the windows start menu, look for the Mastercam X7 Advanced configuration. From there you can enable the traditional backplot. New backplot will still be available if you want it by starting verify, then clicking the backplot button.

Thanks for the tip! That is actually an added bonus. I thought if you enabled Old backplot you would lose the new one. Thats pretty cool, you get all three.

I just managed to get a chance to download the preview and so far im loving the new stuff.. looks like you guys have been earning your pay over there in Tolland..

Anyhow.. was just checking out the tool manager and I think its pretty great.. was just wondering if you had considered the idea of adding any kind of tool import utility using some kind of standard file format like a .csv file..

I know where I work we have an entire database of tooling that we use already in an access database and I see the value of having it inside of Mastercam however it would be a pretty labor intensive process to pull in each tool individually (we currently have hundreds of them defined)

Seems like a importer that read in a .csv file in a defined format (ie. a tooldb api) wouldn't be that hard to create now that you have made the tool manager

Anyhow.. figured I would toss that out there and see if someone might think its a good idea..

I'm trying out the new compare in verify and I'm a bit confused. How do I set the different amounts with colors to check to? For instance Im comparing a toolpath to the finish model and one of the color ranges is -.0072 to .171. Thats a weee bit to much range for one color. Id like to be able to set it to +/-.01" with a different color for each, can I do that?

I've been checking into this and yes, this will be available, but it isn't yet finished being hooked up in the beta that was just released.

I have given this a lot of thought but unfortunately I don't have anything I can distribute right now. We are thinking along the same lines though! We would like to retire the older text import / export format in favor of a more structured format (like XML). The old one is very lossy and hard to maintain.
