Wire EDM fixturing

Recommended Posts

I've been using System 3R for many years on my EDM's. Their products are high quality but the cost is outrageous. After having an issue with an incorrect order, I feel their customer service is terrible. They sucker you in with their leveling heads then they over price any attachments or replacement parts. So I'm considering switching to something else. One of the brands I'm looking into Ram Precision Tool Inc. . . . Has anyone used their products, recommendations?

Most of the stuff I do is too big for fixturing but from time to time I use the leveling heads and the round work holding vices. No matter how much they swear they repeat I find my self running an indicator over every part. I am too old school to change.

I check all my parts with a indicator also. With the Hermann Schmidt magnet do you bolt it to the table or mount it on a leveling head?

To the table. It's great for round pcs. also when you can just stick the face of the round part to vice.

I have ran a lot of sinkers and magnets can play games with the burn, does any know if wire has similar issues???

None that I have known of. Could cause a problem on pick up by drawing particles to part.
