X6 Verification/speed help

OK if i miss something i'm sorry, i'm more the IT admin than the mastercam guy. So we have x6 loaded up on I7 8GB of ram, nvidia gt520 video card. Anyway verification times were getting out of control along with a few other slowdowns so we decided to upgrade to 16gb of ram (max on this particular mb) and a quadro k4000 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814133485 , well the ram did not get updated yet because the motherboard is being picky about it so initially it is just the video card. So the video card was replaced, I used driver sweeper to completely remove the gt520 drivers. I then installed the k4000 with the latest regular ode graphics driver from nvidia. So far everything is fine, however when we went to verify a part the time was drastically longer. with the gt520 it was 1hour 52 minutes, with the new card it went up to 3 hours 14 minutes. I searched on here for possible resolutions and so far we have went into settings-configuration and made sure that hardware acceleration is enabled and it is. We also went into settings, config and opengl is checked and disable front buffer is disabled. I could not find really any more info on this anywhere so decided to ask. Also the new memory has not come in so in reality the only difference is the video card.

any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

thanks

I'm with Rotary....

OOrrr, dumb question: Are you certain the "quality" slider was set in the same position?

If that were changed for one of the renders, the video card won't help you out, it's not an apples-to-apples test...

I would also recommend giving it a go in X7 if you guys are on maintenance, maybe after attending today's webinar 2PM on the subject..

I was kind of wondering the same thing Aaron, just didn't want to ask LOL. Also, if somehow you are verifying under a different config and the tool tolerance is set tighter now that would make a huge difference in a really big toolpath verify. Is this a file you can share? I have a Quadro 2000 and could verify it and see how it does.

Hah! I don't know how many years of my life I've lost troubleshooting problems when the thing wasn't plugged in/fuse was popped, I don't take ANYTHING for granted.

Your tool tolerance is a great idea, too!

Some answers (hopefully) I talked with our mastercam guy and he said that all the settings in the verify were equal under both cards, but i am not 100% certain on that.

We do have a maintenance release for x7 however the guys are crazy paranoid about moving until it goes live from mastercam so talking them into that is a bit difficult, i will see what i can do there.

As for drivers, does anyone have any suggestions on which one to try next since we are on the regular ODE?

rogkick: to answer your question here is thier answer to that,

The program starts out with some simple 2D contours and then moves into the more complex 3D roughing and finishing operations

thanks for the help guys.

The good news is that it is officially released (RTM = Release To Manufacturing, i.e.: It's available for download, but the printed DVDs won't get pressed for another week or two) and that it installs safely next to X6, so they don't even HAVE to use it, you can install it for this test and see if it helps and not impact their day-to-day work until they transition.

I would post up your Nvidia Control Panel (Nvidia utility) settings, maybe someone will see something set wrong?
