Associating mcam-6 to open in mcam-7

Can someone help me out in setting up a computer to associate X6 files to automatically open with X7?

Right click on the file.....

 

open with..... (select Mastercam X7)

 

Make sure "always use the selected program to opem this kind of file" is checked

 

or

 

just delete X6

That doesn't seem to work. if the jobs were saved as X6, they still will not automatically open with X7, even if X6 is no longer on the system. The file type cannot be assigned to X7 either.

Why not just use file open?

Double clicking files to open and launch the program is a good way to end up with multiple instances of the program running.

 

The part file will be updated from X6 to X7 after you open it and save it, or you could use the update folder utility to do a mass update of multiple Mcam part files.

para solids wont associate with X7 at all. everything reverts to X6

do a search for "open with" on this forum. There is a way to fix this.

You should be able to change it through Control Panel\Programs\Default Programs\Set Associations (or, just go to the start menu and type "associations" and it'll pop up.
