x7 ignores boundry

My boundary is set to the obvious diameter that you would guess here but x7 cuts outside of it???? WTF

Is it rolling edges? Or are you talking about it cutting into the slot area on the right?

Set minimum depth on Steep/Shallow tab to -.001 below top surface.

the slot area is totally out of my boundary..... -.001 will not fix the problem it just will go down .001 and the violate the boundary

I see. So you're not concerned about the rolling over edges, you are using a contour as a boundary and it's violating. I would guess it's your setting on the cut parameter page. How do you have this area defined? (see attached)

 

Start by putting some values in the offset distance and see if your toolpath starts to pull back from the boundary. In my opinion this material boundary section is buggy. I've had to put strange offset values in here to get my tools off the walls before. I don't know why.

yeah I could do that but I shouldn't have to.. I hate being a crash test dummy, every time they come out with a new version. I have it set to center... Not ok to go out past center...but it does!!!

Mickey, do you have you have your tool containment set to "within" or "center"? Why don't you have any blocking surfaces created? You didn't provide us with any useful information to help you.

totally agree with you. And I have noticed this same bug. This also happened in X6.

 

See if you can't submit this as a bug, so maybe they can get it fix.

 

The first rule of MasterCam should be, never, ever, violate check or boundary surfaces. EVER.

 

This is why I also use Vericut.
