Large threadmill

Is there a reason for using a single point? It would be a lot faster with a multi point. Personally I like Iscar and Vardex for my inserted threading tools. If you go to there website they have a interactive page you tell them the specs and they suggest the best cutter. When you select the cutter tell it the control you are using and it will generate a program for you that you can cut and paste into your nc editor software.

If we have a single point it can make many different threads per inch. A multi thread tool for this leaves us only making 12 TPI holes.

But the inserts are interchangable within the cutter body. Just swap the insert and go to the next size. Another benefit is the multi point is they are full form no need to bore the minor to size the threadmill will do both the minor and major for you which saves a lot of time when the guage doesn't fit in figuring out whether it is the tool that did the minor the one that did the thread.

If you bought an insertable one .. although that insert would only make 12TPI holes.. for any other TPI you just buy different inserts and re-use the body.

A single point tool is more likely to wear that one point much faster than a multi flute insertable threadmill and for holes of this size its really not going to take too many holes single pointing to waste so much time you could have bought the insertable threadmill and the proper inserts and knocked them out faster freeing the machine up for other work.

Those are probably the reasons that its hard to find a tool for what you are looking for, that said.. if your dead set on making it single point.. you could always look for a insertable body and then alter the inserts and remove all but the bottom tooth.
