Rotary direction callout

Recommended Posts

My post processor doesn't take the shortest route for my rotary and I don't know why.

Starting at A0, doing 5 pockets around a diameter equally spaced.

Instead of the post spitting out A-72. degrees, it gives me A288. degrees, and then to get back to A0 it takes the long way again.

In my machine definition, I have the A axis set to Shortest Direction.

What am I missing?

Using MpMaster for X5.

Jeff I would assume that is where you put your plane at when you starting making the toolpath. Can you try your plane in a different place to see if that makes a difference?

Not sure exactly what you mean.

I'm using Top plane for all 5 places, with Tplane and Const plane rotated for each location about the Origin.

It's doing the same thing here, first index is -72.

I tried changing the minimum travel limit to -1 in the MD, stil outputs neg, so I'm thinking it's in the post.

That's what I'm trying to achieve is the -72 instead of going from 0 degrees to 288 degrees for the 1st pocket.
