Which multiaxis toolpaths support undercut tools?

Basically all the multiaxis tpaths will allow you to use an undercut tool, how the tool axis control is setup will determine the clearance.

The porting toolpath is most commonly used with undercutting tools.

Multi-axis > Surface/Solid > Triangular Mesh

 

Use the "Geodesic" cut pattern.

It's pretty much a swarf undercut if that narrows anything down?

 

I'm gonna have to poke around with morph between 2 curves. Seems to be Ron's "go to" toolpath. It was a bit overwhelming the first time I tried it!

It doesn't have to be overwhelming. Give the toolpath the least amount of information possible to get it up & running. You need your morph curves, the drive surface and tool axis control. Set the step overs kinda generous so it will regenerate faster. Then dial in the control as needed. The linking parameters to control the entry & exit will require the most attention if you have tight quarters to work in. Change one or two things at a time so you know what to reset if something gets weird.

How I approach every toolpath. Get a rough idea worked out and fine tune it from there.

This is a rough idea of what I had going on...

The shaft of the slotting tool was contacting the part (see surface color #217) so I trimmed the drive curve back to a point where the tool would clear then swept a new TAC surface.

Thanks CJep!  I guess I underestimated what I had goin on.  I was closer than I thought.
