Cimco Editor

Hi all,

not sure whats going on here but when i used to edit

a program and wanted to add a character in between other existing characters

the editor used to shift everything to the right to allow for the new character..

all good..but now it actually takes away a space and moves things to the left..

not so good cause it deletes a character as it shifts everything left..

any thoughts would be appreciated.

It might be nothing to do with cimco, please look for insert button on the keyboard and press it again.

I've had this happen before.  Are you using a keyboard with a scroll lock key?  Is it on?  Generally has a light turned on, like caps lock.

Or it was the insert key.

it is the insert key. I have cotton a few calls about this with the Cimco editor and most always say it is the editor and it is actually a key hit by mistake. I have done it over the years myself.

Gets me about once a year before I remember there's an insert key on my keyboard. 

 

Look at the bottom right of the editor and there should be something that says "OVR" If you're in over-write mode, which is what you are describing. Hitting the insert key on your keyboard should change it over to INS for insert mode which is what you want. 

 

Here's where it is.

No problem! You'll also find that symbol at the bottom of a lot of word processors in the same spot.

 

Excel, Word, and Other MS products definitely show it!

Sounds Like I should create a video on this as dose come up at times. I am going to start making more support issue videos for Cimco over this year.
