Fanuc gurus

Recommended Posts

I have have never been much of a contributor here but I try and help out when I can.  I have started a new job and I am working on a Monarch machine with a Fanuc 18i control. The machine was bought used and it seems that the machine builder is a small U.S. Company. I have emailed Monarch but they have not provided much help. The machine and control are set up so that it will not execute  a G01 with out the spindle running. Beyond it being a big annoyance when running and setting up, it makes it impossible to use a spindle probe. I am in need of some help here any direction would be great.

Thanks

My guess is that this is a lathe and you are in G99.

G99 feed per rev ergo no rpm = no movement

Try G98 and use feed rates in units/min

Probing uses skip feed (G31 or the like) so the feed stops when the probe contacts attempting to use straight G01 commands is a good way to break the stylus off.

SAR will only affect that when the spindle is turned on, it will move after the spindle has arrived at full speed. Disabling SAR is useful when turning long shafts etc that tend to resonate, you can command S on short G1 intervals without ruining the surface finish..
