5axis curve help

Good morning everyone,

I would like learn the basics  the 5 axis curve toolpath  .I did sample but I am doing something wrong. .Could someone help my ???

 

I would like to do it on 4tx axis.

I would do it with 'Flow 5 axis' instead. Here is an example.

 

For curve 5axis,  pay attention to this setting.

To use Curve 5axis i needed to be a little tricky with your application...

I had to create a new "simpler" surface to control tool axis.

on your first  example I have tried set deep of cuts , and did not work correctly.if this example is used to finish only some 5 axis contour,or the is other tricky ????

Perhaps it needs to tweak for multi depth... I am off and have not Mastercam at home. I ll try tomorrow morning !

Morph between 2 curves is nice too. A lot of tools to get the job done!

 

To answer about roughing, you just need to check 'by depth' and tool motion should be ok.

why Morph between 2 curves run  along the edge only on 5axis .If  I switch on 4th run across???

I don't really know why but if you play with setting 'run tool' or if you uncheck 'Point tool to rotary axis' toolpath is OK

This is a 'Morph between 2 curves' toolpath so it will try to machine all surface between the 2 curves... legitimate actually

you can machine along edges of the surface but toolpath will run both. Curve5axis would be suitable in that case.

Master80 with the Morph if you use exact edges and tell it a max step over of 2.00 using exact edges it will machine both curves. I like morph because you have 12 different lead in/out types which give you 100s of possibilities to get into and out of the cut where as the curve 5 Axis is very limited to get you in and out of the cut. You can also use from Center away and could use 1.0 as the max step over and then rough the root of the surface and then come back and catch each edge. Then if you want to create a plunge toolpath for a honey comb material you can use on the roughing the plunge. If you want depths of cuts you can use that and can decide on many methods to approach the roughing. Morph pocket is good if you are working on an auger and have material you are wanting to remove. Yes many ways to go about the process, but I still call Morph between 2 curves the Swiss army knife of toolpaths.

This can be a little tricky with this toolpath... simpler would be to translate X-axis your surface or trim it.

Here is an example with collision control (but i needed to build a wall surface).

One edge then Morph Between 2 curves would not be the best choice IMHO. I think I could fight it to do what you want, but what you started with would be my 1st choice. I just wanted to point out how much you can get done with that toolpath.
