Eeyore is correct. If the look ahead is turned ON, the chain will not go around the "4".

This same type of problem will occur sometimes if you are trying to mill completly around a profile. It will only see the first and last segment of the chain and then take the shortest path.

Why would you want to engrave with CC on?

I'm with gcode and say turn the CC off.

If you are engraving letters, you will want to be able to backplot them with the verify on to visually inspect the spacing. (most people use single line stick letters for engraving numbers like that).

If you use CC you have to tell Mastercam you have a 0 dia cutter instead of inputting the proper size.

If you choose to set CC in the control, the infinate lookahead is greyed out anyway.

My friend Eeyore asked me to reply !

Yes it is better to turn the CC off.

But if he wants to use it he must do what Eeyore sais.

Now infinite look ahead related to compensation -computer and optimize to compensation-control .

They simply prevent from overcut and toolpath overcrossing and letter 4 is a classic example

of it smile.gif

Wol teh Eeyore friend
